ABOUT US

Costa Verde International School is a private progressive green school in Sayulita, Mexico. Our multicultural and multilingual approach to education is driven by holistic student-centered principles. We know learning happens when kids feel supported, nurtured, and engaged in authentic and challenging project-based activities.

Daily instruction in mathematics, science, & language arts are delivered in each classroom by a highly-qualified native Spanish-speaking teacher and a highly-qualified native English-speaking teacher. Middle school courses may be taught in either Spanish or English depending on subject. Our ecologically inspired program meets both SEP and Common Core standards through evidence based, language rich instructional strategies.

Each week elementary students participate in Art, Physical Education, Counseling, Technology, Library, and Music. In addition to the core curriculum, the middle school program offers a multitude of learning opportunities that take advantage of local sports, artistic, and cultural experts and events though our Extended Learning Modules program. Just a few of the selections available are Salsa Dance courses, Bamboo Architecture workshops, Drama/Theatre, and Stand-Up Paddle Surfing.

Our Field Studies program is unique to the Costa Verde mission and vision, offering students opportunities to connect to the local community, culture, and environment through beach clean-ups, field trips, gardening, surfing, participation in the farmers’ market, and much more. This hands-on program brings our students out of the classroom to learn, inform others, and make a difference in our town and world.

Located on a beautiful beach nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madres mountain range, Sayulita has surf, jungle and mountains to explore. Only a 45 minute drive north west of Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is maturing from a small fishing village to a progressive community with recycling programs, farmer's markets, animal shelters and good medical facilities. CVIS is committed to families that want to participate in an active community, live closer to the earth, enjoy the natural wonders of the ocean, and still provide a progressive education for their children.

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.
